  1. 1) When MaSoRS was founded in 2003, what were the other active and biggest skilling communities/clans/services/businesses, etc.? While I can't speak to 2003, in 2005, I found out about Masors from Runescape Community (now Zybez), which was already one of the bigger Runescape forums. This was a time when sites like Sal's and RuneHQ were still in their infancy and stuff like Swiftswitch/Swiftkit didn't yet exist. I never really liked PK'ing so I am not too certain about the clans around at the time. 2) The drop parties attracted many people. Would it be ok to say that it was primarily these drop parties that caused the clan to grow over time? I agree that drop parties were one of the primary reasons for clan growth. We would consistently get a massive influx of new members just after drop parties and our board attendance numbers were highest just after or during a drop party. I'm sure you'll find many members who joined because of a drop party. Of course, there was always consistent organic growth from word-of-mouth, events, advertising, etc. FYI, the current board record was set just after the last major drop party in 2011. 3) Did the creation of Mining Golds in 2009 affect MaSoRS at all? I am asking this because Mining Golds instantly became the most well-known Mining community. As with Josh, I was very active around that time period and have never heard of Mining Golds. I don't think it affected us really, and I don't believe that there was ever any formal or implied "competition" between the clans. 4) Has the MaSoRS clan always revolved entirely around Mining and Smithing or has there been a shift in focus in the course of the last 5-7 years? And if there has been a shift, why? Mining and Smithing has always seemed to be a sort of "suggested theme" rather than a strict focus, even when I joined back in 2005. There were always a wide variety of events and even a small pk-ing sub-team which conducted business under a different name. 5) I seem to have the impression from the history page on this website that MaSoRS might have been the biggest skilling clan of RSC and early RS2. Do you think that is correct or not? If not, what other clans were as big or even bigger? I believe this to be true, large skilling clans were quite a rarity back in the early 2000s. 6) On what is the clan's focus today? I can imagine that the release of the new high-level Mining content since 2009 (LRC, Elf City) might have been bad for MaSoRS. I don't know, ask an active member 7) Is there anything else you want me to mention about MaSoRS (that is relevant)? The person that celt refers to as "Sdal" is me. Board name = Phalonx, RSN = Sdalmonte. Let me know if you would like any further detail on anything

    Welcome to MaSoRs
  6. Welcome, and thank you for your interest in MaSoRs. As a longtime clan of Runescape, we value our relationships with fansites and other clans. We welcome opportunities to form and strengthen these bonds and are always interested in what our clan can do for other players of Runescape. Some examples: Inter-clan events (boards or RS) Exchange of site links Official affiliations If you would like to discuss a relationship with our clan on our boards without actually joining, we encourage you to make an account on our boards and make a post below. We would encourage you to give your name, contact info and purpose, but you can include as much or as little detail as you would like. We will have an appointed representative contact you within a few days. Please ensure that you are authorized to speak on behalf of your organization. If, as a representative, you would like access to the full boards (including events) available to members of our clan, you may also apply for an "associate" position. Those who hold this position are equivalent to a diplomat - you will have free access to our boards but will not appear on the member list or be searchable by any member of the public. If you are interested, please discuss this with your appointed representative. Any questions can of course be posted here, or privately messaged to any Leader of the clan. For the Leaders of MaSoRs, SDalmonte

    Welcome to MaSoRs.
  8. Chapter 23: PK Team woes, SNIPERBBB and the Gaming Forum The PK Team at this point was not doing so well. One of the most proactive PK leaders, Matt, had stepped down and was replaced by two new leaders. One leader, womz12, spent several months trying to keep the team going, but when he left on a trip for Europe, the team became less and less active in his absense. As the decline in the PK Team continued, it was decided that it's members were not active enough to constitute having it's own team anymore. On October the 31st, 2006, the PK Team was folded, and it's members merged into solely the SD Team or into regular membership. Shortly after our 3rd anniversary drop party, unholyarmyof1, bearing the longest name ever for a Masors Leader, stepped down from his position to focus on his career. For the past year, he had done all the hard work of the leadership team, using his mathematical prowess to better Masors. In for the empty slot came SNIPERBBB, longtime Masors Computer forum mod, one of the few remaining original core members of the Masors PK Team, and local technological guru. For a long time, Gaming as a topic was repeatedly pushed aside in the Off Topic forum. One Masors member in particular, Matt, a former PK Team Leader, did not like this and it was suggested that Gaming have a whole new forum for discussion. This idea was so well received and supported that on January 11th, 2007, barely 5 days after the idea was first brought up, the Gaming Forum was established. Sadly though, at the same time as this, stinkysmom, the second fastest person to rise to Masors leadership, stepped down to pursue her interests in real life. As planned, with the introduction of the Gaming forum at the exact same time, this news did not hit the clan as a whole for a while.
  9. Chapter 21: Leader shuffling and the Debates Forum Shortly after the 2.5 anniversary party, leaders Susan and Dreikki stepped down, leading to the appointment of Stinkysmom and Brutus456 as leaders. Susan chose to become a Clan Advisor once again, while Dreikki opted to become a Member Emeritus. Both have had their influence on Masors and will be remembered for quite a while (esp. susan and her quirkyness *hides*). Before Susan left, however, she introduced the Debates Forum, a new place to talk about controvertial issues, but yet not allowing people to hate each other for their opinions. This allowed people to express their true opinions without getting in trouble, and has been a great addition to Masors. (that is a debateable topic) Chapter 22: The Masors 3 Year Anniversary Drop Party The Masors' 3 Year Anniversary Drop Party was held on September 30th, 2006. This time around, the Masors Team had 4 drop teams, composed of the below: Team Hairy Lamby - Susan, megalord, John, Wil Team Margarita - Lokiri, smfE, Ih8u4ever, Gold_Buda Team Supergalactic Spungos - jyang93, icechicken13, warcalibur, and theweirdhobo Team Identity Crisis - Sdalmonte, bnncer, floppy, Silver (+Krabbetje) Dropping over 75 mil in items, the Masors took to Al Kharid as their drop party location, featuring drop zones around the bank and south of Al Kharid castle, and trivia being held in the castle. In addition, the rest of the masors were out in force, annoying all the tele grabbers and the like. The firemaking and masking teams are listed below as they were the week before the drop party. Firemaking Teams Team Charmander - Link dragmire (Leader), kamitoachi, rock chick laura, mattyb3 Team Growlithe - Galaad2 (Leader), Fiddy99, Jared, J36miles Team Flareon - Womz (Leader), Uber Noob, dominator96, xx_swimer_xx Masking Teams Team Red Power Rangers - Haldir, Mystyrose, flyaway46, Mortemore Team Green Power Rangers - Tybuoy, Gun, Jinxedfire, Johnny Deg, Team Yellow Power Rangers - Ronald, Gilformen, Rikuym, Ujwik What else is there to say? With this much organization, the party was a huge success, drawing in over 30 new accounts in one day.
  10. Chapter 20: The Masors' 2.5 Year Anniversary Drop Party - March 25th, 2006 This drop party was different from all the previous ones, in that only EM+ and selected members would be dropping valuable items, with regular members dropping masks and/or firemaking. The drop teams were as follows a few days before the drop party. Team Shoes Leader: Susan Team Suomen sisällissodan jälkeen neuvostoliittoon karanneiden punakaartilaisten vuonna 1918 perustama Suomen kommunistinen drop-ryhmä AKA Team Waffen-KEK Leader: Dreikki Team Firepower Leader: Unholy Team Pwnage Leader: Stinkysmom Along with masking drop teams Red, Blue and Green and Firemaking teams Orange, Yellow and Magenta. Author's note: The information about the teams is very fragmented, someone PM me if this information is incorrect. This drop party, we had about 60 million gp worth in items, a bit less than the 86 million raised in the September '05 party. Below is the picture of the bank taken about 3 days before the party: As usual, we congaed from Draynor to our drop party location led by Leader Firestorm456. Our location this time was Al Kahrid this time, and we began dropping within minutes of arrival, due to heavy preperation. After a while, we began our traditional trivia'ing hosted this time by Norway Boy and Ronald Liu, in which we caused over 400 people to lag out after every question, which was a new record for our drop parties. Dorny and SDalmonte manned the Camtasias, and trivia proceeded smoothly, interuppted only when Norway Boy was lagged out by the chat server crashing. Anyway, this party was a great sucess, and the Masors reputation grew even more among the general public. This, like all of our drop parties, will never be forgotten.
  11. Chapter 19: #masors: The MaSoRs IRC Channel Today, (as of time of writing), the MaSoRs IRC Channel on the Swiftirc network is a great place to hang out for all MaSoRs, be they former members, or potential recruits. But it is interesting to know how this IRC channel came to be, and the conflicts that have raged all around it. On October 8th, 2005, Wil Bolin, at the time a PK and Crafting Team Member, created the channel #masors in his name. Shortly thereafter, he transferred power to an elite member calling himself Pysmone, who transferred ownership to Ashley, an experienced IRC user. The IRC channel became almost instantly popular, with at least 10+ users online during most hours of the day. A Trivia/Game bot was quickly established by SDalmonte, and many members enjoyed playing during their many hours of boredom. Today, the Trivia/Games is offered mainly through AaFaAfAaF. On December 19th, 2005, registration for #masors expired. This was because the owner, Ashley, had not visited in over a month. Unholyarmy, an IRC operator at the time it happened, quickly registered it, and then transferred power to SDalmonte. On December 27th, 2005, Brutus456, now a Leader of Masors, took control of the IRC channel. There were many issues with the IRC channel, the least of which was keeping everyone in line. Due to the nature of IRC, anyone could make spinoff channels and completely undermine the original channel. Others included lack of proper supervision (taken care of by all of the leaders entering the chat over time), abuse of power, etc. These were taken care of by a new set of strict rules which are today enforced by most #masors Operators. 12. Chapter 18: Scandal, Resignation, and the SD team After the September drop party, there began a rather quick sucession of leaders. The great Visitor58, reknowned for being one of the best leaders of all time, quit shortly before the drop party, citing various concerns of which I have no business discussing. Gravelboy, MaSoR's highest all-time poster at the time due to her excellent stance towards leadership, also stepped down from leadership, turning to a new clan with Visitor58, I believe called the Phoenix Fyres, of which I don't know what happened at time of writing. In to take their place were James1 and unholyarmy. But, the expected calmness didn't last as a scandal quickly gripped the leadership team. A while after the hallowe'en update of 2005, James resigned, bringing the reign of what might be the greatest leadership team ever to an end after only one month. He was replaced with Susan, a quirky individual who stepped up to the plate nicely. While all this was going on, there was another process in place. An individual by the name of Phalonx (SDalmonte ingame) was tired of the inactive Crafting Team. He set out to change all that, and he suceeded. In September, he set forth a proposal to change the team to the Skills Development Team. As the original topic was lost to the wiping of the Crafting team, a copy of the original proposal is quoted below. The SD team was met with general approval, though some cited concerns about conserving the Crafting Team. The plan was approved by the Leadership team after about a week, and deliberation began. After all that was done, the SD team was finally ready to be put into place, however, Leadership was experiencing difficulties (see above), and the SD team was put on hold. After one month of waiting, the SD team was finally inaugurated on November 2nd, 2005, under the rule of Phalonx(SDalmonte) and Waterstone. Over the next one and a half months, it quickly built up quite an impressive bank, and the integrity of the team was excellent. It continues to this day, approximately two months after, to be arguably one of the high points of MaSoRs. Had to take out one part. Sorry.
